Description of position:

The Swetland Center for Environmental Health within the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Science at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine has a Research Associate responsible for developing, maintaining, and disseminating quantitative and qualitative data from complex systems used for research and evaluation projects of the center. Successful candidates will have a minimum of 1 to 5 years of experience conducting applied population health research in non-clinical settings. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 1 year of experience developing study protocols and managing data systems for community-engaged mixed methods research. The Research Associate must uphold the values of the Center including a commitment to racial justice, collaboration, community engagement, inclusivity, and innovation.

The Research Associate will contribute to studies focused on food systems and health equity and stakeholder engagement in community systems science. They will serve as a leader within the Evaluation Core of the center working directly with the Center Director, research scientists and associates, research project leads, and study staff. The Research Associate will lead data collection and management processes and trainings across local, state, and national teams of collaborators as identified within projects. They will facilitate the implementation of all data-related study procedures within multiple existing and emergent applied population health research studies. They will provide expert service in leading the development of quantitative and qualitative study protocols and will be responsible for coordinating and implementing standard operating procedures related to human subjects protection, participant recruitment and retention, data collection using multiple methodologies, data management and organization, and data analysis and interpretation. The Research Associate will provide leadership to annual quality improvement projects on data management processes of the center and will contribute to the dissemination of research findings via presentations, publications, toolkits, and other products to promote translation to various audiences.

The Candidate will have technical skills in 1) mixed methods research in non-clinical settings including primary data collection using quantitative and qualitative methods, 2) experience creating standardized operating procedures for population health research, 3) experience with IRB protocol development, 4) ability to run data queries and conduct simple analyses of quantitative data, and 5) ability to conduct qualitative data analyses to synthesize data and identify themes using a codebook.
