THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION. EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTINUED FUNDING FROM THE GRANT PROVIDER. THERE MAY BE UP TO TWO (2) POSITIONS AVAILABLE.

Will consider applicants whose primary work setting is offsite, but the position requires on-campus presence at a minimum of once per quarter and a maximum of once per month.

The George V. Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service at Ohio University is seeking a flexible, team player who will work with a multidisciplinary team of faculty, professional staff, and students to perform technical assistance, applied mixed methods research, project administration, oral presentations, & report writing in the areas of health/wellbeing and education.

Qualified candidates will have the ability to utilize database and statistical and qualitative data analysis software programs to organize, manage and analyze data, interpret findings, and prepare reports summarizing findings using data visualization techniques and non-technical language, move multiple tasks forward simultaneously, learn new software and analytical methods as well as communicate effectively with project sponsors.

Essential duties:

Functions as a project manager for multiple project teams at one time including projects incorporating 3 or more staff/faculty members.

Designs and conducts qualitative and quantitative applied research protocols incorporating data analysis, individual interview, focus group and survey instrumentation development and use.

Communicates with project team-members, external stakeholders, and project sponsors. Analyzes results of research including written documentation and verbal presentations of findings. Identifies best practices and successful implementation strategies and disseminates the information. Takes leadership role in the development of responses to grant proposals and scopes of work as requested by manager.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are required for applied research projects conducted at The School. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a team environment, have advanced problem-solving skills, and will be highly motivated to contribute to meaningful, applied research projects that create public value and solve real-world problems in the Ohio Appalachia region and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in any field with at least four (4) years of relevant experience or Ph.D. plus a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.

Knowledge and experience with public, private, non-profit and social service organizations and systems. Ability to use Excel and statistical software.

Ability to work nights and weekends in order to meet project and reporting deadlines. Valid U.S. Driver’s license and ability to travel outside Athens area including overnight travel to conduct research and meet with project sponsors and research participants. Reliable home Internet for remote work when needed

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate would have a PhD in a related field such as Educational Research and Evaluation.

Additionally, the preferred candidate would have prior experience in conducting mixed methods, applied research and/or program evaluation and would have experience with SPSS or R as well as experience/expertise in capacity building evaluation.
